This year’s version of the Cedar Crest Ice Hockey team is a little bit of a mystery heading into the 2011 – 2012 season. Losing key seniors to graduation from last year’s squad, which went 10-3-5 in the regular season, and an influx of freshman leaves a little bit of uncertainty in the air at Cedar Crest. Adding to the uncertainty, the Falcons will be led by first year head coach Eric Kline, the Falcons’ fourth head Varsity coach in four years. Coach Kline, an assistant Varsity coach last season and former member of the Falcon team that won the Viola Cup was also a junior player. The club is looking for Coach Kline to take the leap in guiding a Varsity program that has put together successful back-to-back seasons. This year’s squad will be led by a core group of seniors that have been together since 6th grade. They include: defensemen Ryan Zinn and Kody Bell, forward Derrick Truax, and 3 year starter Adam Wills in goal. First year players Greg Tonini and Caleb Weiberg, round out the senior class. The Junior class consists of Zach Simpson, Brandon Kreiser, Alec Baum, and Brian Kaley. Sophomores Dylan Holst and Logan Hockley are back again this season. The Falcons complete their roster with 7 freshman: Devon Calvert, Jonathan Kreiser, Wes Wentling, Paul Marakowski, Nikolai Neufeld-Kreider, Marq Kintzer, and Nikolaj Madsen.
