The Annville-Cleona Ice Hockey Team is entering the 2011-12 campaign with a bit of uncertainty after losing a few key seniors and their starting goaltender. Annville-Cleona is the smallest school in the league, only graduating 120 students per year, but always fields a full roster and stays competitive. This season should be no different with seniors Aaron Gerber and Adrian Garland, ten juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen rounding out the 16 man squad.
A-C's key players with experience are Aaron Gerber, juniors Cody Brightbill, Robbie Fidler, Tanner Fitting, Andrew Jocham, and big Daulton Kapp anchoring the defense. Junior players Nathan BeDeLey, Eric Bowman, Zach Hitz. Aaron Struphar, sophomore Matt Reigle, and especially new goaltender Alex Mock will need to step up to the next level and play a bigger role for the team this season. Mitch Rodkey who is a sophomore will be moving up to the varsity team this season along with freshmen Billy Bennett, Brenden Freeman and Cody Keller.
In his sixth season as head coach, Nathan Brightbill and assistant coach Bob Leiby(14th season) are looking forward to the challenge of getting back to the Viola Cup Finals. Also Returning behind the bench are second year assistant coaches Steve Bowman and Tim Gettle along with Dale Baker our team manager for his 14th season.
The Annville-Cleona Middle School team is lead once again by returning Head Coach Ed Hine, Sr., Assistant Coaches Sam ‘Barney’ Breidenstine and Mike Miller. The Annville-Cleona Middle School players will be joined this year by at least one player from Northern Lebanon.
This combined team will be working on improving and strengthening their skills throughout the 2011-2012 Season.” Annville-Cleona Middle School will also be looking to improve on their record from last season
