 Overcoming insurmountable odds, hard work, determination and some "Luck of the Irish", the ‘YORK IRISH’ Varsity made it to the CPIHL Tier II Playoffs last season. Having all 9 players returning from last season and adding a few more the ‘IRISH’ have high hopes of a repeat trip to the Playoffs again this 09/10 season.
With his last chance at a pot of gold with the IRISH and leading the Irish offensive attack will be Senior Philip Leonardi. Helping look for that pot of gold are Juniors, Becky Mareck, Leo Skehan, new comer Dan Lynch and returning Sophomores Sam Davis and Stephen Leonardi. All bring speed, power and finesse to this well-balanced ‘IRISH’ attack to the ice.
The blue line should be painted green as opponents envy the ‘IRISH’ defense last season. Returning Juniors Jacob Baum, Ben Murter and Alex Tucci along with Freshman Cody Baker protect the ‘IRISH’ house with a potent combination of offensive skill and defensive prowess.
Keeping the ‘IRISH’ pot of gold safe between the pipes is Junior Peter French and Freshman Curtis Hess. This tandem plans to make it impossible for opponents to steal any gold from the ‘IRISH’.
Behind the bench are head coach Mark Skehan and assistant coaches Joe Skehan and Mark Baum. The coaches bring many years of experience, both as players and as coaches. The goal is ALWAYS to make a positive impact both on and off the ice, and with plenty of hockey talent, good chemistry, experience and passion; the ‘YORK IRISH’ are looking forward to another successful season and to reach the end of the rainbow.
