The Central Dauphin East High School Ice Hockey Club was founded in 1994 and is one of the original eight teams that formed the CPIHL. East High has always maintained highly competitive teams at the varsity level. C.D. East is consistently at the top of the Mid Penn division. This season’s team is hoping to carry on that winning tradition. This year’s Panther team has 5 players that have won the Viola Cup before and are looking to regain that success.
The Panthers will have a new look behind the bench this season. After returning to the team last season as an assistant, Bob Klimovsky will take over the helm as head coach. Assisting “Uncle Bob” this season are Chris Archibald, alumnus C.J. Hallman and Sean Harp. The new coaching staff has high hopes for the boys in black and white this season.
The 2009-2010 East High Varsity team is happy to have 5 returning seniors this year. The senior classmen are strong assets and are expected to contribute in skill and leadership for the Panther Club. Team Captain, Danny Keich and senior assistant captains, Kevin Kline, Kyle Koppenhaver, Matt Papinchak and Michael Torcaso will anchor this year’s team.
East High also has a strong returning Junior Class. Stand out goalie, Kamron Bettinger will lead the junior classmen. Other juniors returning to the team this season are Josh Confer, Cameron Harlacher, Cody Lloyd and Justin Mullen.
The sophomore class this season also has 5 players. Ben Lebo, Logan Rexrode, Michael Sheckard, Steven Griffin and John Scott are all looking to make great contributions to the squad. Also looking to make a name for themselves are freshmen newcomers, Jordan Klimovsky and Nick Hivner.
The C.D. East middle school program is combined with Middletown this season. The team is small in numbers but big in heart. Even as a combined team they will have to play many games with only one extra player on the bench. Logging a phenomenal amount of ice time for the Panthers this year will be eighth graders Nikki Lloyd, Tyler Miller and James Walters. They will be anchored by seventh grade goalie Vincent Bottigilia.
East High may not always be the biggest or most skilled team in the league but the Panthers have always played with heart! This season will be no different. We have Panther Pride!! |
