 After an impressive undefeated ’08-‘09 season, the Colts are looking to rebuild for the upcoming 2009-2010 campaign. The Colts lost eight players to graduation from last year’s team. That isn’t the only challenge facing the Colts as they have been moved up to Tier I and will be facing consistently tough opponents game after game.
The experienced seniors for the Colts will be looked upon for guidance and to help compete in a competitive league. Returning seniors that played a big role for the Colts last season and will be even more important this season are forward Mark Ottenberg and defensemen Corey Martier and Mark Emond. Senior goaltender Patrick Strohecker will also need to play big and continue his dominant play from last season to help bring confidence to the rest of the team. Dylan Onufrak and Cameron Yesconis will need to find a new comfort zone as they will be relied on more this season than any of their other seasons.
Juniors Greg Marshall and Bubba Albright will be relied upon heavily to help bring support in both the offensive and defensive zones. Sophomore Grant Harlacher will need to be just as good, if not better than last season, as he must prove that this could be his team for years to come.
The Colts will be coached by returning head coach Jeff Strohecker and assistant coach Dan Gross. Coach Strohecker will be going into his seventh season as a member of the Cedar Cliff Colts and his fifth season as head coach for the varsity team. Dan Gross will be going into his third season as a member of the Colts coaching staff as the assistant coach of the varsity team and the head coach of the junior varsity team.
Although the Colts lost a lot from last year’s team, one thing is for sure, this year’s team will play every game with intensity and passion with more wins to come. |
