Rules for Tier I Varsity Playoffs Playoff Rules of Play 1. Games will go full time, no reduced time in third period unless the six-goal rule is in effect. 2. Ties at the end of regulation will go to 5-minute sudden death overtime. 3. Ties at the end of the 5-minute overtime will go to a shootout. The first round of the shootout will involve 5 players from each team, and if still tied after all 5 players from each team shoot, shootout will be rounds of 1 player from each team, beginning with the sixth player from each team’s list, until one team has outscored the other after each player has had the chance to shoot. 4. Each team will designate its shootout participants prior to the game, on the score sheet by placing a number 1 through 15 besides its shootout participants. Players 1 through 10 will shoot in the order indicated on the score sheet, starting will player 1. If a tie score still exists after the 10th player has taken part in the shootout, the shoot out will continue re-starting with player 1. If any player is unable to take part in the shootout through injury, penalty, or game ejection, all players immediately below will advance one position in the shootout rotation. 5. In the event that one team has fewer than ten players on their roster at the beginning of the game, the shootout order will be determined by the number of players on the smaller roster, number “n”, with each team designating the shootout players in order up to “n”. Players 1 through “n” will shoot in the order indicated on the score sheet, starting will player 1. If a tie score still exists after the “nth” player has taken part in the shootout, the shoot out will continue re-starting with player 1. If any player is unable to take part in the shootout through injury, penalty, or game ejection, all players immediately below will advance one position in the shootout rotation. 6. In the last 10 minutes of a playoff game or in overtime, if a player receives a 10-minute misconduct penalty, the balance of the penalty that remains unserved shall be served in the player's next scheduled playoff game. Also, the player may not participate in a shootout if the entire 10 minute misconduct has not been served. The player’s spot will be skipped and the coach will need to add another player in the 10th spot in the shootout order should it get that far in the shootout. Playoff Policies: 1. The CPIHL Executive Committee will assign teams to provide off-ice and gate responsibilities at all playoff games. The neutral team and the home team will be advised of the assignment prior to the game. The home team will provide backup scorekeeper, timekeeper and gate operations (ticket sales) personnel for all games in case on non-appearance by the assigned neutral team. 2. Home team may elect to use their own DJ and or announcer. 3. Ticket sales will begin no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled face off time. If the assigned neutral team has not appeared by that time, the Home team must begin selling tickets. If the Home team begins selling tickets, they must make note on the gate form of when or if the assigned neutral team arrives at the game. 4. If the assigned neutral team does not appear by game time, the Home team must assume all off ice duties. 5. Both home and away teams must provide the necessary security personnel for all playoff games. 6. Failure of the assigned neutral team to support the games to which they are assigned will result in that team losing all or a portion of their share of the playoff proceeds. 7. The CPIHL Executive Committee will provide off-ice and gate personnel for league championship games. |
